A bountiful town that can keep your heart in harmony
Toyosato is located in the eastern part of Shiga Prefecture, which is also the town of many Omi merchants , one of the three Japanese major merchants, born in. At the center of the town, there is a major traffic route established in Edo period called Nakasendo. Along the route, many of cultural properties that can remind you history are there.

The old halls of Toyosato Elementary School

Year-end and New Year holidaysAddress 518 Ishibatake, Toyosato-cho TEL 0749-35-3737 Fee Free Traffic A 10-minute walk from Toyosato Station (Omi Railway) A modern school building designed and built in 1937 by an American designer, William Merrell Vories. Currently, it is known because of the scenes from the anime “K-ON!”. A large number of fans of the anime and fans of Vories’s architecture gather here.
Important notes for visitors
・Many tourists mistakenly go to the adjacent Toyosato Elementary School, where children are currently attending. Please be careful not to enter the wrong building.
・No shoes are allowed inside the school. Please change into slippers before entering.
・Eating and drinking are prohibited inside the school.Checking in suitcases
・You can check-in your luggage at the tourist information center located in the school building. (9：00-17：00) ※Only on the day of your visit

Ajiki shrine

It is known as one of Japan’s oldest gardens. The mysterious curves of the pond trees and expansive greenery, offers a beautiful and spiritual atmosphere.

Ito Chubei Museum

The brewery was established as an order from the Hikone Feudal Lord in 1854. The name of the famous sake, “Kinkame” is also the nickname of Hikone Castle. You can enjoy delicious sake from a recipe that has been untouched since the Edo Period. Please enjoy the brewery tour and sake tasting here.
